The Dnipropetrovsk District Administrative Court decided to transfer the church of St. Nicholas to the full use of the religious community of the Roman Catholic Church. This was an important step in the fight for the return of the historic building, which was built by Catholics more than a hundred years ago..

Despite numerous appeals from the community to government agencies and even a decree of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko in 2005, the Ministry of Culture did not fulfill the order to transfer the church. According to the rector of the parish of father Pavel Vyshkovsky Omi, this decision is the result of long years of struggle and deceptive promises from the authorities.

" The court for us was the last hope of the realization of our rights, ”Father Paul said during the meeting.

The Catholic community of Ukraine has repeatedly appealed to the authorities demanding to return the church, which was part of the spiritual and cultural heritage of Kyiv. The building, which is now in an abandoned state, was turned by the Soviet government into a concert hall. The society demanded the restoration of its original purpose.

The court’s decision was supported by the descendants of those who built the temple, as well as international organizations, including the World Knights Columbus World. They called on government authorities to comply with the court decision and return the temple to the religious community.

“The Church of St. Nicholas must be restored and again become a spiritual center, the pride of Kyiv and Ukraine,” emphasized Father Pavel Vyshkovsky.

The court decision is an important victory for the religious community and its supporters, who hope that this time the state will implement a decision that has long been pending implementation.

Let us remind you that in September 2021, a fire occurred in the Church of St. Nicholas. On June 1, 2022, the church, before the fire, played the role of the organ corncard hall, should be transferred to the religious community, as was agreed as part of the signed memorandum between the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy and the arrival of the church. However, this never happened.

In the fall of 2024, as a result of a missile attack, the church was damaged again - the windows needed to be replaced.
