As reported on the website of the Odessa City Council, the issue of including Odessa on the UNESCO World Heritage List should be considered at the next session of the Committee.

The dossier was handed over by the mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, at a meeting with UNESCO Deputy Director General for Culture Ernesto Ottone, director of the UNESCO World Heritage Center Lazar Elundu Assomo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to France Vadym Omelchenko.
