Kharkov documentary photographer Vladislav Krasnoshchek captures a new reality on a film camera and admits that the most difficult thing is to find out that one of the heroes of his photographs died. The stories of the Ukrainian military, volunteers, the city destroyed by Russian attacks - all this is woven into his personal picture of reality.. I have long planned to become a military correspondent, but until February 24 I did not think that the war would so unexpectedly cover not only Donetsk, Luhansk, but also Kharkov or even penetrate near Kyiv, where I had already managed to visit for reporting. The history of the master is transmitted by Bird in Flight.

“One shot is special for me: two soldiers are walking along the liberated road in Malaya Rogan (Kharkiv region - ed.. Left - Sasha. We met several times under different circumstances.. And then it so happened that I filmed his funeral. For me, this photo is precious, because he is still alive here, but there is already a shot where they shoot into the air during his funeral.. When this happens, you somehow begin to perceive things philosophically, ”the artist shares..

Taking photographs without accreditation is quite dangerous, he admits and explains:.

“Our military and terrorist defense are ready to tear apart because you raised a camera somewhere. The first weeks everyone was on the lookouts. Once, volunteers and I went to the north of Saltovka, I started filming, and they immediately started shooting at me. After I got accreditation from the Armed Forces of Ukraine”.

However, even in these extremely difficult conditions, warm human stories happen.. The documentary maker tells how he was invited to the wedding by a couple of volunteers and a military man, the moment of whose proposal he managed to capture on film:.

" I met the military near Slavyansk - they crossed paths with the volunteers with whom I was traveling. In my presence, the military made an offer to a female volunteer. He rolled a wire ring and gave it to her. Then they came to Kharkiv and invited me to a wedding cafe, I filmed it. Later they came to visit me at the museum, we had a warm relationship.”.

Recall that earlier the choreographer from Chuguev, whose photo became one of the symbols of the war, returned to work after surgery on her eyes..
