Five films are nominated for the European Film Award in the category of the best film of 2018, the event organizers said.

"On the border of worlds" (production Sweden and Denmark, director Ali Abbasi), "Cold War" (director Pavel Pavlikovsky, production Poland, France, Great Britain), "Dogman" (director Matteo Garrone, production Italy, France), "Girl" (directed by Lukas Dont, production Belgium, the Netherlands), "Happy Lazar" (directed by Aliche Rorvaher, made in Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland), according to a press release from the European Film Awards.

Contenders for the title of the best European director were Ali Abbasi, Matteo Garrone, Samuel Maoz (for the film “Foxtrot”), Pavel Pavlikovsky, Alice Rohrvaher.

In addition, the jury announced the nominees in the categories of best documentary, best European actress, best European actor, best European screenwriter.

Previously, applicants for the award of the best European short film, animated film, comedy, debut film.

The winner must be chosen by the jury, which includes 3,500 members of the European Film Academy.

The award ceremony will be held December 15 in Seville.
