Among the ruins of the Mayan city, known as Palenque, Mexican archaeologists have found an ancient mask. She was found during work in the palace building "E". Scientists believe that it is made from the senile face of Pakal the Great - the ruler of the Baikul kingdom.

Experts continue to analyze the find. If the assumption is confirmed, it will be the first mask found Pacal, which depicts him in old age.

Near the mask, archaeologists also found ceramic figurines, bone and flint products.

Pacal the Great was born in 603 AD.

He ascended the throne at the age of 12 and reigned in the Baikul kingdom for 683 years. Pakal strengthened its possessions and achieved economic prosperity in the country. Thanks to this, he was able to develop large-scale construction.

At that time, many majestic buildings were erected, among them the "Forgotten Temple", the main part of the capital's palace, "Temple XIII" and "Temple of inscriptions".

Palenque - one of the most popular attractions of Mexico. Every year thousands of tourists from different countries come here.
