Keanu Reeves publishes art albums and books on art in his new publishing house X Artists' Books, which he founded jointly with the artist Alexandra Grant.
At the moment X Artists' Books has released four books costing an average of $ 25 to $ 60. Among them - (Zus), the chronicle of the disadvantaged suburbs of Paris, the so-called sensitive urban zones (Zones urbaines sensibles, Zus), compiled by the French artist Benois Fougerolem. A limited-edition version of the $ 900 book has already been bought by the Paris Pompidou Center and the National Library of France.
"I'm not saying that we are reinventing something," Reeves said in an interview with The New York Times, "but we certainly want to do really good books".
As they say on the X Artists' Books website, a small publishing team is very selective about the choice of projects and even does a little less than we would like - the main thing is that the books themselves were works of art and portals in imaginary worlds.
At the same time, it is not planned to publish classical catalogs and monographs. On the contrary, Reeves and Grant intend to deal with books at the junction of different genres that do not find their place in the traditional publishing business. In X Artists' Books they say that they like books in books the same as in friends: generosity, openness, intelligence, mystery and style.
So far, the books of the publishing house Keanu Reeves are sold only in Los Angeles, New York and Paris, including some museum stores.
