The "father" of Cheburashka and Uncle Fyodor passed away - writer Eduard Uspensky

Children's writer and screenwriter Eduard Uspensky died in Moscow on August 14 at the 81st year of life. As it became known, on August 9 he lost consciousness at home, then he needed urgent help.

Earlier, Uspensky had a malignant neoplasm.

The first book of Uspensky about Uncle Fedor "Uncle Fyodor, Dog and Cat" was published in 1974. Later, there were several series of sequels of this tale, four of which were filmed cartoons. Another famous work of the writer is the tale "Crocodile Gena and his friends".

Among the popular characters he invented are Crocodile Gena and Cheburashka, Cat Matroskin, Uncle Fedor, postman Pechkin, dog Sharik, Kolobok brothers, Guaranteed people.

His works have been translated into more than 20 languages.
