Hundreds of reenactors armed with muskets and swords of the XVII century and played before the audience a battle between the Cossacks of Bogdan Khmelnitsky and the army of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in 1648, which initiated the national liberation uprising.

Preparing for battle in the evening, like real Cossacks, camped, coordinated the offensive and trained. And in the morning went on the offensive.

"We have the idea that the Cossack army is like a modern regular army. As such a drill was not, most likely was training on the interaction of units, "- said the reconstruction organizer Olexa Rudenko.

According to legend, this is one of the final episodes of the Battle of Korsun. One of the detachments of the Poles tries to escape from the battlefield, and the Cossacks overtake him.

All are armed with muskets, knives and sabers - identical to the present. The participants in the reconstruction themselves created costumes and weapons, studying history and archaeological finds.

Historians say:

the battle near Korsun ended with the defeat of the army of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, says TV Channel 24.

The Poles, retreating from Korsun, entered the tract of the Steep Gully, where the Ukrainians attacked them. They tore the camp into three parts and destroyed them in parts, "said Stanislav Stepenkov, the head of the historical museum of the Korsun-Shevchenko Reserve. This battle initiated the peasant uprisings and the national liberation war of 1648-1654, led by Bogdan Khmelnitsky.
