The play "The Old Man and the Sea" based on the same name by Ernest Hemingway will be shown for the first time outside Moscow. To assess the premiere, everyone will be able to attend the 5th and 6th of April at the Theater of Drama.

For more than ten years, Anatoly Vasiliev - a pupil of Yuri Lyubimov, creator of the theater "School of Dramatic Art" - did not perform in Russia. The General Producer of the Chekhov Festival Valery Shadrin managed to unbelievable - to organize a "one-time" return of the director. As a dedication to Yuri Petrovich Lyubimov and with the support of the Chekhov festival - the maestro staged "The Old Man and the Sea" with the great actress - Alla Demidova.

The performance does not take spectacular visual decisions, but the most important here is solo Alla Demidova. The actress, who for several decades has been at the forefront of theater searches, working with the first directors of her time - has recently appeared on stage almost exclusively in poetic concerts, and very rarely participates in performances of "big form".

In the hands of Vasilyev, Hemingway's story became the story of Lyubimov's fate, the fate of Demidov, his own, Vasilyev, fate. On the fate of anyone who catches fish and draws fishing line when their hands are wounded, and sharks strive to devour everything that is so dear to you.
