For a month and a half of tours musicians will pass 50 thousand. km and will visit 22 cities. The Russian tour THE RASMUS will become truly national-the geography of performances stretches from Vladivostok to Kaliningrad. He starts in Minsk on March 1. The concert in Moscow will take place on March 3 in "GlavClub". The group is very happy to meet with Russian fans. Lauri Yulenen personally greeted them: On the eve of the tour of THE RASMUS in Russia, the correspondent of "Utra" met with the musicians and asked them a few questions. - What inspired you to create songs for the new album "Dark Matters"? Lauri: Ideas for some songs appeared about 15 years ago. I record various melodies and texts on my phone a little, almost every day. Some of them are very good. And when I write a song, I look at everything I've ever written at the airport, on the tour bus, behind the scenes or anywhere else. These little notes then become songs. For the album "Dark Matters" basically the ideas came in the last 5 years. A lot of time passed between album releases, many things happened. I, for example, moved to Los Angeles. There everything was very different from my native Finland, and I wrote a couple of songs about my feelings. And I also divorced - at that time for me it was quite a difficult time, it's hard to part with a man after 12 years of living together. Writing songs has become a kind of therapy, it's a great way to get rid of pain and tension. - What are you interested in besides music? Aki: Of course, everyone has their own interests. And when we're not on tour, I stay at home with my children to be daddy. Duties of the father are very different from those of the participant in the group. Lauri: I have a passion for architecture. I built three houses myself, for which I came up with a design. I also have a TV show in Finland about architecture, which I myself lead. I came up with the design of the houses of the famous people of Finland - these projects became the basis of the TV show. This is my second hobby, which played a significant role in my life for the last couple of years, but also I was focused on the work of our group. I think that my two hobbies are very different from each other, but they help me to fully open up. The only obstacle is time, it is limited, and sometimes it can be a problem. - Were there any funny situations at concerts or rehearsals? Lauri: Rehearsals are personal. Fans know little about this. But I think they will be interested to know what is happening there. When we get together at rehearsals (because now Eero lives in Australia, I'm in Los Angeles, Pauli lived in Singapore, and Aki in Helsinki), first of all, we communicate, try to get to know each other anew, and talk about new music, share interesting videos. That is, we just spend time as friends. And before we take the tools in hand, it can take about three hours. This is very important for on, this is exactly what happens inside the team. Aki: Much can happen in speeches. I remember one concert in Nizhny Novgorod, during which the electricity was cut off. There was no light, no sound: what to do next? And then Eero took an acoustic guitar, went to the edge of the stage, stood in front of the audience of 2000 and said: "Come closer, closer". He sang without a microphone and the rest of the equipment, but only with an acoustic guitar.
These are the moments that are something special, thanks to them the show remains in the memory for a long time. Lauri: I sometimes forget the lyrics of songs and start composing on the go. This can be quite funny:.
all these spontaneous things, mistakes make the show extraordinary. - Who would you like to perform on the same stage (singer or band)? Lauri: We had a great opportunity to be opening for many bands. We played several shows with Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Garbage, Scorpions, Alice Cooper. When I was 10 to 12 years old, I had posters on my wall with Alice Cooper. And 20 years later I had a chance to meet with him, to sing on one stage. We sang the song Scorpions "Rock You Like A Hurricane". I still do not believe that this happened. Maybe it was a dream? But, if you think about the future, there are many artists that we really love. Personally, I'm a big fan of Bjork. It would be nice to meet her, to write a duet ... well, at least to meet for a start.
Probably, it would be too exciting. She is very special. - Is popularity the result of hard work or is it more a matter of chance? How do you think? Lauri: And that, and that, of course.
You have to trust yourself, be confident - this is what people like. If you know what you are doing, if you have ambitions, I think many will follow you. There is some mystery around this.
We were lucky to be at the right time in the right place. When we released the song "In The Shadows", it sounded on the radio around the world. One song opened many doors in front of us, and we were able to perform in 70 countries around the world. We are fortunate, but, of course, laborers.
