The death of the singer was reported by his son, conductor Alexander Vedernikov, Jr.. However, he did not disclose the details, from which his father died.
Note that Alexander Filipovich Vedernikov was born December 23, 1927 in the village of Mokino Vyatka province. In 1955 he graduated from the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and entered the opera company of the Leningrad State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after C. Kirov (now it's the Mariinsky Theater).
Three years later he moved to the Bolshoi Theater, where he served until 1990. In 1976 he was awarded the title People's Artist of the USSR.
By the way, his fame was brought by the performance of the party of Ivan Susanin in the opera of the same name by Mikhail Glinka. He also performed such operatic parts as Farlaf in Ruslan and Lyudmila, Kutuzov in War and Peace, Don Basilio in The Barber of Seville, Ramfis in Aida and others.
