Day of Ukrainian cinema celebrated in Kharkiv

In "Bommer" started a series of festive and educational events. Participation in the first of them was accepted by the head of the Kharkov regional state administration Yulia Svetlichnaya.

To celebrate the Day of Ukrainian Cinema in Kharkov began on September 7 - by showing the documentary film "The Genius of Vasily Stus". The film session was preceded by a discussion with the participation of filmmakers, critics, teachers of profile universities, representatives of the authorities and the public.

Day of Ukrainian cinema celebrated on the second Saturday of September.

All participants of the event with a professional holiday was congratulated by the head of HOGA Yulia Svetlichnaya.

"I congratulate everyone who creates a movie, and everyone who enjoys this art. I am pleased that in recent years Ukrainian cinema has acquired a quality mark. We can already see works of different genres even on Ukrainian channels. This is both documentary and historical films created in Ukraine. And the fact that we are today in the "Bommer" - in one of the most respected cinemas in the country and the only one in the Kharkiv communal cinema - is also not accidental. There are many historical events connected with this place. And, I hope, many more events are ahead, "said the head of the region.

Congratulating the guests and spectators on the holiday, the director of the "Bommer" cinema Tatyana Nastasienko noted that this institution is the oldest not only in Ukraine but also in Eastern Europe. And the professor, the dean of the faculty of cinema and television art of the Kharkov State Academy of Culture Zoya Alferova reminded that our city entered the history of cinema, because it was here that the inventor of the world's first film camera, Iosif Timchenko.

"In Kharkov in 1896 the first film show was held. And this cinema was opened in 1908. It was the first, which was built on a special project - especially for film screenings, "- said Zoya Alferova.

Within the framework of the celebration of the Day of Ukrainian Cinema in the hall of the cinema, the acting model of the electro-tachioscope Joseph Timchenko. This device was donated to the future museum of cinema in "Bommer" by the archaeologist of cinema Sergey Gavrilenko - the honorary professor of Edinburgh University.



Events dedicated to the Day of Ukrainian Cinema, in "Bommer" will last until September 10. So, on September 8 at 21:00 and September 9-10 at 17:00 and 21:00 there will be screenings of the best Ukrainian short films presented at the Odessa International and other film festivals.

9 and 10 September at 23:30 "Bommer" will present the program "The Night of the Ukrainian Short Meter", which includes several almanacs from the most interesting shorts.
