In the Dnepropetrovsk region in the Pokrovsky Combine, archaeologists from the Institute of Archeology of the National Academy of Sciences discovered the grave of a young girl during the excavations of the Scythian mound. This is reported by LIGA referring to the website of the Ukrainian Association of Ferroalloys Producers.
According to the leader of the expedition, candidate of historical sciences Sergei Polina, the girl "was a kind of Amazon" and, most likely, died in battle.
The grave was not destroyed, on the hands and neck of the girl found jewelry - a bracelet and a necklace. Also next to her in the burial was a bowl, a small amphora and a quiver with arrows. The arrows themselves were decayed from time to time, but the tips were preserved, and nearby were the remains of a horse, which the ancient Scythians laid in their graves for repurchase.
On the territory of the Pokrovsky GOK excavations of ancient burial mounds of the Scythians, dated to the 4th century BC. Earlier in these barrows archeologists dug up the antique amphora, molded pot, small gold and clay jewelry, bronze arrowheads and the remains of Scythians, both men and women and children.
