A leisurely walk in solitude along the endlessly snow-covered space of detached electronics, where the lines cling to the skin with ice, hurt the heart and melt on the memories warmed by memories. The sound line with the fast, tough and bright underground hits of the leaders of the industrial scene Covenant is a study in unexplored emotional waters, a melancholy memory sense, a strange rhythm of live electric cars and a longing for the departed.
In the mid-80s, three dreamy Swedish teenagers from Helsingborg, passionately interested in natural sciences and philosophy, discovered the world of electronic music. In between university sessions, they began experimenting in a small studio organized in Nachmanson's bedroom and trying their own sound. From the first studio work in 1994, which turned out to be the band's first quantum leap, by now the Covenant has become veterans of the synth-pop scene. Their style was described as Electronic Body Music with progressive-techno elements, or industrial techno-rock. Later this combination in the Covenant will be called the Future Pop style - traditionality and futurism, cold rhythmic accuracy of the electronic beat and lyrics, warmed by the beautiful and sensual vocals of the Scandinavians, dressed in strict elegant men's suits.
The ninth numbered album The Blinding Dark (2016) in the best traditions of the band crowns the development of corporate style and sound. The Swedes recorded one of their most ambitious records, dedicated to the need to live in dark and intricate times, increasingly plunging into a personal existential crisis. Covenant believe that in a world that has ceased to make sense, it is necessary to learn to see in the dark with the help of soul power.
This grim inexorable music reflects all the darkness that we carry in ourselves, often not finding the courage to consider something good. The Blinding Dark is an explosive fed by cold rage, and beautiful, like a little guiding star. It's time to listen. It's time to listen to the sounds of sirens. What do they tell us? Who really plays for us the tunes to which we dance? The song metaphor of the awakening of the Nautilus, rushing through the black mass of water, without looking back, and the real cosmos are waiting for us in the House of Printing on September 3! We do not leave Babylon. Not yet….
