Valery Gergiev, General Director and Artistic Director of the Mariinsky Theater, headed the list of cultural figures with the biggest earnings in 2016. This follows from the information published on the website of the Ministry of Culture of Russia about the incomes of citizens holding positions in organizations subordinate to the department.

It turned out that the annual earnings of the world-famous 64-year-old conductor amounted to more than 154 million rubles.

The second line among the most well-earned cultural figures was occupied by the 73-year-old artistic director of the Maly Drama Theater Lev Dodin, who declared the income of 112.7 million rubles.

In third place was the artistic director of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia Vladimir Spivakov. The 72-year-old creator and permanent head of the State Chamber Orchestra "Virtuosos of Moscow", as well as the president of the Moscow International House of Music in the asset 76 million rubles.

Also in the top five came the artistic director of the Moscow Art Theater named after A. Chekhov Oleg Tabakov (68.7 million rubles) and the director of the state museum-estate "Arkhangelskoe", as well as the creator and owner of one of the largest private museums in the country, Vadim Zadorozhny (46.7 million rubles).

The top 10 included the artistic director of the St. Petersburg Academic Philharmonic Society.

Shostakovich Yuri Temirkanov (43,882 million rubles), the artistic director of the Nations Theater Yevgeny Mironov (37,402 million rubles), the art director of the State Symphony Orchestra "New Russia" Yuri Bashmet (35.533 million rubles), the artistic director of the State Academic Symphony Orchestra Vladimir Yurovsky (34.041 million rubles) and the rector VGIK Vladimir Malyshev (33.437 million rubles).

In total, the document contains 211 representatives of cultural organizations.
