Pictures from the collection of Chauncey Stillman are on sale at Christie's

At the auction Christie's this year exhibited sixteen works of old masters and impressionists from the collection of Chauncey Stillman, which will be sold at thematic auctions from April to October. Thus, at the auctions of old masters on April 27 in New York one of the most significant works will be the painting "Autumn" by Nicola Lancre, estimated at $ 2-4 million. This work is one of the four canvases of the French master from the series dedicated to the seasons. Two of them are kept in the collection of the St. Petersburg Hermitage, another one - in a private collection.

At the same auction will fall two works of masters of the Renaissance - "Saint Barbara" Francesco Franci ($ 400-600 thousand. ) And the "Portrait of a Man" by Lorenzo di Credi ($ 500-700 thousand. At the auction "Impressionists and Modernists" in New York on May 15, the main work in the Impressionists section will be "Boy and Dog" Henri Toulouse-Lautrec, written in 1900, with the estimate of $ 1.5-2.5 million.



Chauncey Stillman, a well-known collector and philanthropist related to the Rockefeller family, died back in 1989. Since then, at prestigious auctions from time to time, the work from his collection comes up - for example, the year of his death at Christie's was sold a portrait of a young man with a halberdge of Pontormo's brush, which the Getty Museum bought for a record $ 35.2 million.

Meanwhile, in Britain, at auction, they sold the fur coat of the stewardess "Titanic". Lot went under the hammer for 232 thousand dollars.
