MILA NITICH presented the Ukrainian version of the song “I Repent” and a lyric video - a composition that appeared in her life at the age of 18 and went together with the singer on a journey of more than a decade and a half. What was once a very personal story today sounds like a confession about acceptance, forgiveness and the ability to move on. The artist admits: the translation was a risk, but it was he who discovered a new, deeper and more universal meaning in the song..

The song “I Repent” was born for the performer at a very early period in her life.. Then she literally won her place in her repertoire - and this struggle became part of the history of composition.

“This song appeared in my life too early - at the age of 18. I remember very well how I literally fought for her with Vladimir Bebeshko. He didn’t want to take it, he thought it was too early for me to sing it then. But I was stubborn and defended the song because I felt: it’s mine. At first I put one, very personal story into it - the story of my parents.. But today I understand: now this song has completely different meanings. It is not about a specific person. It’s about each of us,” says MILA NITICH.

For a long time, the singer did not dare to translate “I Repent” into Ukrainian. She was frightened by responsibility - she was afraid of destroying subtle emotions and losing depth, because unsuccessful translations often deprive songs of their power. The decision came unexpectedly during a studio meeting with the poet and lyricist Gidayat Seyidov - they simply decided to write new music.

“I was very worried that the song would not be ruined. We all know how sometimes translations make songs worse. But for some reason I knew that he would be able to find the words that would convey the real essence. When I read the finished text, I just cried. Really. Because I felt: the song took on a completely different meaning,” recalls the artist.

It was then that the singer realized: “I Repent” is not about another love drama. This is a song about internal dialogue, about the torn insides of each of us, about losses, pain and those events after which we will never be the same again.

“I realized that this song was written about each of us. About the fact that I have something to repent of - before God and before myself. And that the only person I need to forgive in my life is myself. It sounds so deep and wide that everyone will find their own story in it.. Such songs are very rare in life,” shares MILA.

The reaction of listeners only confirmed this feeling: people admit that they listen to “I Repent” several times a day and cannot hold back their tears. For a singer, this is the main value of music - the ability to touch the deepest strings of the soul..

“I was once told that music should be written in a way that touches a person’s spine. For me, a hit is not a fast or dance song.. A hit is something that touches the heart. I always knew that “I Repent” was born to remain in the hearts of people,” the performer emphasizes.

Today MILA calls “I Repent” a song about acceptance. About the moment when it is no longer possible to change anything - and all that remains is to repent, ask for forgiveness and move on. She considers the first words of the composition - “I don’t harm anything” (“I don’t regret anything”) - to be deeply personal.

“I really don’t regret anything today.. I understand that everything happened for a reason - exactly at that time and in exactly that place, not earlier and not later.. I am what I am today because I have come all this way..

No matter how painful, difficult or hopeless it sometimes seemed, at every moment of my life I needed it in order to come to myself today as I am,” the singer admits.

MILA NITICH expresses special gratitude to Sergei Mogilevsky, who worked on the sound, and the entire team involved in the creation of the song. She is convinced: today “I Repent” sounds not like a story about a relationship between two people, but like a confession about the path, pain, acceptance and the most difficult art in life - the ability to forgive yourself for decisions made.
