The Second Eastern District Military Court sentenced 54-year-old Belarusian citizen Sergei Eremeev to 22 years in prison -  in the case of blowing up two trains with fuel on BAM in November 2023. He must spend the first five years in prison, and the rest of the term in a maximum security colony. The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation reported this.

The Belarusian was also fined one million rubles and his car and “about 700 thousand rubles received as a result of the crime” were confiscated..

Eremeev was found guilty under the articles “terrorist attack”, “undertaking training with the aim of committing a terrorist attack”, “participation in a terrorist community”, “illegal possession of explosive devices” and “illegal movement of explosive devices across the state border”.

Note that on November 29, 2023, a freight train exploded in the Northern Tunnel - the longest on the Baikal-Amur Mainline - in the north of Buryatia between the stations Itikit and Okushikan. On November 30, an explosion occurred on the bypass of the Northern Tunnel, on the Pass - Goryachiy Klyuch section. Damage from the explosions was estimated at 102 million rubles.

A week later, the FSB announced that it had detained a citizen of Belarus on suspicion of bombing warehouses..

According to investigators, he “installed remote controls in front of the entrance to the Severnomuisky tunnel, and planted (improvised explosive devices) on tank cars with diesel fuel of two freight trains at adjacent stations.”.

The security forces claimed that Eremeev contacted an “unidentified person” in the messenger, underwent subversive training, and then took an explosive device from a cache in Belarus and brought it into Russian territory.
