A large number of deaths contributed to the fact that in the shopping center the fire alarm was malfunctioning, and the doors of the evacuation exits were locked. Another 16 people appear on the list of missing persons. Many people are hospitalized, most have symptoms of body burns and respiratory tracts, carbon monoxide poisoning. About 10 people are in intensive care, one - in critical condition.
According to the testimony of the management of the TC, the guard and animator of the children's room, the fire could be arranged by disadvantaged teenagers who constantly spent time in the "Winter Cherry". It was they who could, for the sake of fun, set fire to the foam rubber.
Among other versions of the causes of the tragedy - careless handling of fire (in the children's room celebrated birthday, took out a cake with burning candles) and a shortage of wiring.
In the case of fire, the Investigative Committee detained three people, including the owner of the shopping center Nadezhda Suddenok.
