Trump did not congratulate Putin on winning the election

US President Donald Trump did not congratulate the Russian leader Vladimir Putin on winning the election. This was reported by Vedomosti with reference to the official representative of the White House, Hogan Gidli. Trump's schedule does not include phone greetings.

Guidli also noted that the US authorities "are not surprised by the result," and added that they will "work on developing relations with Russia".



Unlike the American colleague, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, herself recently re-elected for a fourth term, sent a congratulatory telegram to Vladimir Putin. It also contains congratulations from German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
