Experts of the All-Russian People's Front propose to limit the export of round timber. In their view, this will reduce the scale of illegal tree felling, especially in Siberia and the Far East. ONF sent to the Government of the Russian Federation a proposal to transfer to the Federal Forestry Agency the economic functions for carrying out taxation, the appointment of sanitary felling and the export of round logs abroad.

"Raw and sawn timber is almost the same, such timber is not subject to deep processing. Only 6% is fuelwood and only 15-20% for lumber, sheets for facing, wood boards and plywood, and finished wood products (bonded products, wooden frames, carpentry, tools, hulls and handles) are only 0 , 75% of exports, "- says the State Duma deputy Nikolai Buduev.

The expert believes that private companies engaged in export of roundwood are representatives of foreign holdings. They also import finished products to Russia.

"It turns out that we are getting ready products from our forest. Why such products can not be produced from us - I do not understand, - adds Buduev. "We sent a proposal to the Government of the Russian Federation to transfer to the Federal Forestry Agency the economic functions for conducting the taxation, the appointment of sanitary felling and the export of round timber abroad".
