On the Sunday Evening program on Russia 1, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the United States had informed the Russian Federation through the State Department that they expect a sale of Russian diplomatic property located in the respectable areas of San Francisco and Washington in its favor.

She said: "I will now say a sensational thing. It is impossible to believe in this, officially we were not allowed to understand the State Department, we were told directly that we expect that we will sell these objects to the American state ".

Zakharova added: "They expect us to sell these objects to the US state. We will make today a selection of photographs of these objects to make it clear what is at stake - these are not one-room apartments on the outskirts. Downtown and Washington, and San Francisco. Objects associated with the so-called "summer cottages" - these are the most respectable places, so it was so interesting to hold events ".

She added that US representatives also reported that the Russian side "will not be able to do anything" with its diplomatic property. The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation noted: "We are talking not just about property, but about property that is on the territory of the state, which has always indicated its commitment to the protection of private property".

Zakharova also stressed that the US actions against Russian diplomatic property are "an absolutely new word not only in diplomacy, but also in security issues". She concluded: "Tomorrow no one will give a ruble for security, for example, diplomatic facilities of any other country, in any other state. The largest state that claims to be a world policeman is engaged in total lawlessness ".

The Russian Foreign Ministry earlier issued a statement stating that on September 2 the US authorities seized the buildings of the Russian Consulate General in San Francisco and the Trade Mission in Washington, which are in Russian property and possess diplomatic immunity. Also, Russian representatives are denied access to the leased premises of the branch of the trade mission in New York. Moscow regards the seizure of Russian diplomatic capacity in the US as a frankly hostile act and calls on the US authorities to immediately return diplomatic facilities.
