Reuters reports, citing the draft declaration received at his disposal, that US leader Donald Trump intends to hold a meeting with world leaders on September 18 in New York to discuss the issue related to the UN reform.
As the agency reports, world leaders will be invited to the meeting if they sign a ten-point declaration calling on UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to "start effective reform" of the organization.
The draft declaration says:
"We support the efforts of the Secretary General to introduce concrete changes within the UN framework in order to better coordinate the work on humanitarian assistance, development and protection of peace initiatives".
As previously reported, the US president intends to deliver a speech at the UN General Assembly in September.
September 12 at the headquarters of the United Nations will open the 72nd General Assembly. From September 19, the discussion of general political issues will begin in the framework of the high-level week.
