RIA Novosti informs that Rospotrebnadzor has warned Russians about the spread of tuberculosis in Ukraine.
It is noted that Kiev officially announced the increase in the number of tuberculosis cases as early as 1995. As you know, then the World Health Organization has developed a special program to help Ukraine, but "little progress has been made in stabilizing the situation in the country".
In Rospotrebnadzor said: "International experts note the problems in the statistical recording of morbidity, and draw attention to the fact that in a number of regions of the country is a particularly difficult situation. This applies primarily to the southern regions of the country - the Odessa and Kherson regions, where annually more than a hundred cases of newly diagnosed tuberculosis per hundred thousand people are registered ". The department added that since 2014 Ukraine is among the five countries with a wide spread of drug-resistant tuberculosis.
The supervisory authority noted that the director general of the Center for Public Health of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine explains the problems with the spread of the disease with the difficulties with the purchase and delivery of drugs, which caused patients to discontinue treatment.
In Rospotrebnadzor, at the same time, they consider: "On the other hand, social issues related to the quality and timeliness of rendering medical care to the entire population and to groups of risk - to" unprotected strata of society ":
homeless people, drug addicts, former prisoners, remain the cause of the spread of tuberculosis".
It is noted that according to the WHO, rates of cure of patients from tuberculosis in Ukraine remain among the lowest in the world - 38%. In Odessa, where the mixed form of tuberculosis and HIV is common, this indicator was 43%.
Recall, tuberculosis is a widespread worldwide infectious disease. It is caused by dangerous microbes, the so-called sticks of koch. Disease usually affects the lungs, but can also affect bones, joints and intestines.
