The Politico newspaper writes that US President Donald Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the adoption of the law on new sanctions against Russia in private conversations with several Republican senators.

According to the publication, Trump tried to convince the head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Bob Cocker, that this is a harmful and unconstitutional document. He also said that the bill would harm his presidency. The source of the publication said:

"He (Trump) was clearly upset".

However, Coker was not persuaded; He told the president that the document will receive support from both parties in Congress.

Trump eventually signed a law approved by Congress on anti-Russian sanctions on August 2. It is noted that the main reason for his discontent was that the document limits the independence of the president in matters of changing or abolishing restrictive measures and requires coordinating such steps with the Congress.
