Head of the regional chapter of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Valery Sinkov said on Tuesday, August 22 at a meeting of the operational headquarters that a major fire in Rostov-on-Don, which affected about 100 residential buildings, according to preliminary data, began with a garbage dump near houses. He explained that the cause of the fire was "the introduction of a foreign source of ignition".

Sinkov said: "The study found that the zone of initial burning was on the south side of the territory of private home ownership along the alley. Chuvashskaya, 50. Abroad, three dwelling houses were stored garbage, garbage dump, which in general and contributed to the development of the fire.

Taking into account all the parameters of the possible transfer, we confirm that with such a wind force .... The transfer of [fire] was coming from the hearth ".

As the head of the regional GU MVD Oleg Agarkov, the police "will consider all the versions, not only arson". Agarkov said: "But this version [arson] will also be considered. We will act in close cooperation with the Investigative Committee ".

As a result of the fire, 58 people were injured, nine of them were hospitalized. Of the houses, including nearby, about 600 people were evacuated.
