The criminal police department on its Twitter page reports that the police interrogated an 18-year-old Moroccan suspected of attacking people with a knife on Friday, August 18 in Turku. Details in the interests of the investigation will not be disclosed.

The report says: "The main suspect in the case of the attack in Turku was questioned today. At the moment, we will not comment on the content of the interrogation ".

The police also notes that on Monday, August 21 in the morning, the court will consider the case of a suspect in custody.

As previously reported, on Friday, August 18 in the Finnish city of Turku, a man attacked with a knife on passers-by. It is noted that as a result of the attack two Finnish women died: one on the spot, the other in the hospital. Eight people - six women and two men between the ages of 15 and 67 - were injured, three of them citizens of Italy, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Five left the hospital on Saturday, August 19. The motive of the attack is not yet established. During the detention, a suspect was injured in the leg. The 18-year-old Moroccan, as it turned out, sought asylum in Finland in 2016.

In addition, the day after the incident, on Saturday evening, the Moroccan received a threat over the phone, so he is under additional supervision.

Also, the police detained five Moroccans, one of them is on an international wanted list. Four have already been questioned. In addition, investigators continue to question the eyewitnesses.

The police on Saturday clarified that the attack is being investigated as an act of terrorism. The Finnish security police, after the attack, left the level of danger at the same level - on the second of four.

Yesterday, on Sunday, August 20 in Finland, a memorial ceremony was held in memory of the victims of the attack in Turku. The Government and the President of Finland condemned the attack and expressed their condolences to the victims, relatives and friends of the victims.
