"RT in Russian" reports that the member of the Communist Party, the first deputy chairman of the State Duma's international affairs committee, Dmitry Novikov commented on the call of the mayor of Seattle to demolish not only the memorial to the soldiers of the Confederation, but also a monument to Vladimir Lenin.

Novikov suggested that this is just another manifestation of the anti-Soviet, anti-communist sentiment and Russophobian.

He said: "If the Mayor of Seattle is trying to combine the struggle against the monuments of the Confederates with the struggle against the monument to Lenin, it looks rather strange. Because Lenin was precisely the enemy of slavery, in whatever form, any social violence. He advocated justice, individual freedom and created a party that consistently fought against the autocracy in the country. It is about the figures of a fundamentally different historical caliber. And therefore, nothing more than an attempt to be in a certain political trend, it (the statement of the mayor of Seattle) can not be called ".

The deputy also added that Lenin's activities at one time were widely recognized in the world, and monuments appeared to him in different countries.

He stressed: "Monuments to Lenin were established not only in those states that declared development along the socialist path, but, as you see, in the USA. This is confirmed by the fact that respect for this person as a historical personality is great ".

Earlier, the mayor of the American Seattle, Ed Murray, called to dismantle the monument to Lenin in the city.
