Earthquake destroyed the minaret of the ancient mosque on the island of Kos

Local residents report in social networks that a powerful earthquake destroyed the minaret of the ancient Defterdar mosque in the central part of the Old Town of Kos.

It is noted that the Defterdar Mosque was built in 1725 during the Ottoman rule and is one of the attractions of the island of Kos.

Wrote on Twitter: "The Lord protected us today. Until 12 noon the area where the minaret fell was full of children who were playing. And mine too ".

An earthquake of magnitude 6.5 occurred in 1. 31 (the time coincides with Moscow) between the Turkish Bodrum and the Greek Kos. Of the records in Twitter, it follows that seven people were killed. Authorities report two dead and 120 wounded, mostly easy. Twitter clarifies that the dead - tourists from Norway.
