The central bank reports on its website that the regulator continues to struggle with troubled credit and financial institutions. Today, the right to conduct banking operations has been lost by Mezhtopenergobank, informs Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
In explanation for this decision, it is noted that Mezhtopenergobank placed funds in low-quality assets, including in the construction and investment sectors, and inadequately assessed the accepted credit risks. In addition, the bank credited companies that did not conduct real economic activity.
At the same time, the measures of supervision that the regulator applied did not give the desired effect.
In the official message, it is noted that the Bank of Russia twice imposed restrictions on attracting deposits from the population. However, the bank's managers and owners did not take effective measures to normalize its activities. The statement of the Central Bank says: "Moreover, their actions showed signs of unfair behavior, expressed in the withdrawal of assets with damage to the interests of creditors".
Mezhtopenergobank, according to ratings on the value of assets, ranked 94 in the country's banking system.
