"RT in Russian" reports that the Federation Council approved the protocol to the agreement on the deployment of the aviation group of the Armed Forces of Russia in Syria.

As noted, the document regulates the issues of the deployment of an aviation group in the territory of the ATS and its functioning.

It is specified that in accordance with the protocol, the term of the agreement is changed from an indefinite term of 49 years with an automatic extension for the next 25 years, unless neither party notifies the intention to terminate the agreement in not less than a year.

As previously reported, at the end of December 2016, Russian leader Vladimir Putin signed a protocol to an agreement between Russia and Syria on the deployment of an air group of Russian aircrafts on the Syrian territory.
