The newspaper Vedomosti reports, citing two interlocutors close to the presidential administration, that Russian Ambassador to the United States Sergey Kislyak, after returning from Washington, will represent the interests of one of the Russian governors in the Federation Council.

The publication specifies that the new post Kislyak will receive after the regional elections in September. Whose interests from 16 leading regional leaders will be represented by the ambassador, is not reported. It is noted that until September one of the provisional governors should name him among his three candidates for senators.

The interlocutor of the newspaper also said that FSB general Alexander Rakitin will also start working in the Federation Council. Arthur Parfenchikov, head of Karelia, is going to nominate him. In addition, a source close to United Russia said that "the appointment of a FSB agent from Karelia is reinforced by Parfenchikov, since he speaks of the trust of the governor-in-charge by the president".

The source of Interfax later said that the issue of the transfer of Kislyak to work in the Federation is really being considered. The interlocutor of the news agency said:

"It is possible to say with a high degree of probability that Kislyak will be included in the" senatorial "troika of one of the candidates for the post of head of the national republic of the Russian Federation in the September 10 elections".

As previously reported, Sergei Kislyak will return to Moscow in late July. Recall, as the new ambassador of the Russian Federation to the US, the deputy head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Anatoly Antonov was recently confirmed.
