CNN reports that the US Navy tested laser weapons in the Persian Gulf.

Christopher Wells, the captain of the ship on which the laser installation was placed, said: "It is more accurate than a bullet. This is not a highly specialized weapons system, like some other weapons that are in the defense industry ".

According to the television channel, the tested weapons hit targets 50,000 times faster than intercontinental ballistic missiles. In this case, the military notes that, for example, the wind can not affect the direction of the beam, in contrast to the projectile.

It is reported that as an objective during the tests, a drone was used. The hit on it was "silent and invisible".
