Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Konstantin Kosachev expressed his opinion in his Facebook that Israel should not be turned against the agreement of the Russian Federation and the United States on an armistice in southern Syria, but find a way to "live with it".

According to the senator, Israel's motives are not hidden: he fears strengthening of Iran's position.

Kosachev wrote: "However, no one will cancel such an important document that gives hope for a turning point in the Syrian situation, only because of Israel's assumptions about Iran's hypothetical intentions".

The senator noted that it would therefore be more sensible for Tel Aviv "not to take advantage of the agreement already reached between Russia and the United States, but to find ways to live with it," and to benefit from the victory over the AAIS.

The media earlier reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is categorically against the plan of Moscow and Washington for a truce in southern Syria, as this will allow Iran to expand its presence in the region. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov later noted that the security interests of the Jewish state in the creation of the zone of de-escalation in the ATS were fully taken into account.
