The EU Council website published a document from which it follows that the European Union has decided to impose sanctions against 16 Syrian citizens who are allegedly involved in chemical attacks in the country,. RU".

It is specified that the new list includes eight high-ranking military personnel and eight scientists who were involved in the proliferation and use of chemical weapons.

Thus, the total number of those under sanctions in connection with chemical weapons increased to 255.

As previously reported, Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with the Le Figaro newspaper said that there is no evidence of the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian President Bashar Assad in Idlib Province. According to Putin, an unsubstantiated discussion about the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian army is "a means of persuading the world community of the need to continue exerting pressure on Assad through sanctions".
