"TV Center" reports that mass rallies were marked in Turkey by the anniversary of the failed coup attempt. It is reported that hundreds of thousands of people left last night on the streets and squares of the largest cities.

In Istanbul, the participants carried photos of the victims to the bridge over the Bosphorus, where the insurgents' offensive was stopped.

After that, President of the country Recep Erdogan addressed his supporters. It is noted that the Turkish leader congratulated citizens on the "day of the triumph of democracy" and stated that he was ready to sign a bill on the return of the death penalty. Then Erdogan went to Ankara, where he took part in the opening ceremony of the monument to the victims of last year's events.

Recall that in the confrontation of putschists with government forces in July 2016 killed at least 240 people. More than two thousand were injured.
