The State Duma proposed to reduce the size of the resort fee in half

"Izvestia" reported that the head of the State Duma Committee on Budget and Taxes Andrei Makarov came up with an initiative in which he suggested reducing the resort fee in Russia in half - from 100 to 50 rubles.

He added that the reduced fee should be set for the first year of the resort fee.

In addition, Makarov offered 70% of the revenue from the experiment to collect the resort fee in the first year credited to municipal budgets, and 30% - to regional. He also proposes to create a public council to monitor the expenditure of funds.

Makarov explained:

"This council will also prepare proposals, analyze, assess the preparation of regional legislative acts, municipal regulations and agreements between municipalities and regions".

As it became known, the resort fee as an experiment is proposed to be introduced in four regions of Russia. It is specified that the fee for tourists from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2023 will be introduced in the territories of the Crimea, Altai, Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories. The maximum amount of the fee will not exceed 100 rubles per person per night in the hotel.
