RIA Novosti reports that the UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura stated that he expects to hold another four rounds of talks on the Syrian settlement before the end of the year and hopes for progress on their results.

In an interview with the news agency, De Mistura stated: "We intend to make sure that our work, which is preparatory by the time we can say that we have really started a peace conference on Syria in Geneva, will continue in August and September.

And, perhaps, also in October and even in November. Therefore, we hope that by the end of the year we will have a completely different picture in Syria ".

As previously reported, the seventh round of inter-Syrian talks began on Monday, July 10 in Geneva. It takes place after an international meeting on Syria in Astana and bilateral talks between the Presidents of Russia and the United States in Hamburg, which resulted in an agreement on a truce in southern Syria.
