"Rossiyskaya Gazeta" writes that the head of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security Viktor Ozerov wrote a statement of resignation from this post. The senator explained his decision by the necessity to rotate posts in the upper house, as well as personal reasons: "It is necessary to rotate posts in the Federation Council". He added: "The Committee on Defense and Security also came. In addition, I want to change the situation and the rhythm of life ".

On Thursday, July 6, a source in the chamber's apparatus reported that Ozerov had written a statement of resignation as chairman of the defense committee at his own request.

According to the regulations of the Federation Council, the resignation of the head of the committee should approve the gliding session, the nearest one is scheduled for July 12.

The parliamentarian also thanked the speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, who did a lot for him "politically and humanly" and supported the decision to resign from the post of head of the committee.

Ozerov, leaving the leadership position, nevertheless will continue to represent the Khabarovsk Territory in the Federation Council and hopes to "still benefit both the edge and the ward".
