RIA Novosti reports that during the plenary session of the European Parliament deputies voted for the adoption of a resolution on the suspension of negotiations on Turkey's accession to the European Union.

It is noted that in support of the resolution 477 people voted, and against - 64. The text of the resolution, which is recommendatory in nature, notes: "The European Parliament calls on the commission and member states to suspend negotiations on Turkey's accession without delay, if the package of the constitutional reform is implemented without changes, stresses, taking into account the comments of the Venice Commission on Constitutional reform, that the proposed amendments to the Constitution do not correspond to the fundamental principles of separation of powers, do not provide sufficient checks and otivovesov and do not comply with the Copenhagen criteria ".

The resolution also condemns "large-scale, disproportionate and long-term adverse effects on a large number of citizens measures" that followed after a failed coup attempt last July. At the same time, the European Parliament is called "to immediate and without conditions the release of all prisoners held in custody without confirmation of individual participation in the commission of a crime".

The resolution provides for suspension of negotiations in case of possible restoration of the death penalty in Turkey.
