RIA Novosti informs that twelve higher educational institutions of Russia entered the Shanghai subject rating of Global Ranking of Academic Subjects.

"Rossiyskaya Gazeta" notes that the best results were achieved by the Moscow State University named after M. Lomonosov. He is the leader among all Russian universities by the number of subjects - 14, and also in places - the highest was the 43rd place in physics.

Rector Viktor Sadovnichy commented: "The rating once again shows that MSU is a serious competitor to the leading universities in the world. The hit of Moscow University in the number of the best universities of the world in 14 subjects demonstrates the correctness of our strategy in the implementation of the development program of the Moscow State University. I would like to especially note the growth of indicators in the field of "physics". Undoubtedly, this is the impact of our successes in the space program, photonics, participation in the LIGO project and other areas of physics ".

In addition, the rating also includes St. Petersburg, Tomsk, Novosibirsk State University, Tomsk Polytechnic University, Higher School of Economics, MIPT, MEPhI, MISiS, St.

Petreburg Polytechnic University Peter the Great, Ufa State Aviation Technical University and Belgorod State National Research University.

It is reported that in the final part of the rating there were 1409 universities. It is specified that the best universities are determined on the basis of five criteria: the productivity of scientific activity, the citation index, international cooperation, the number of publications in the best journals, the availability of international awards and prizes.
