Erdogan announces new operation of Turkish military in Syria

In an interview with Izvestia, President Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey is ready for a new military operation in the north of Syria, which will begin in the event of a threat to its borders.

The edition cites the words of the Turkish leader: "Negative processes are taking place in Syria now. If this leads to a threat to our borders, we will react in the same way as during Operation Euphrates' Shield.

Erdogan also lamented that the coalition led by the United States refused to accept Ankara's assistance in the liberation of Manbijah and Rakki from the terrorists, leaning exclusively on the Kurdish military formations.



Recall that the operation of the Turkish army and friendly groups of the Ankara Syrian opposition began in August last year, and ended in March this year. As a result, the border towns of Jarablus and El Bab. Also representatives of the Turkish leadership stated that the "Shield of the Euphrates" is directed against "terrorist groups of Syrian Kurds threatening Turkey". The same Erdogan said last November that the operation, among other things, aims to "put an end to the rule of Assad".
