Izvestia informs that the press service of the governor of the Sakhalin region reports that the first-ever business mission from Japan arrived to the Kuril Islands.
A delegation of 69 people arrived in the South Kuril region on the passenger ship "Etopirika" on June 27.
It is reported that the delegation included representatives of 32 private companies, as well as state and municipal structures, including employees of the government of Japan and the governorship of Hokkaido.
It is expected that within the next five days the representatives of Japan will visit the islands of Kunashir, Iturup and Shikotan.
It is noted that the purpose of the trip of the Japanese delegation is to find out the possibilities for joint economic activity of Russia and Japan in the Kuriles. Recall that earlier at the highest level of agreements on this reached the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe.
