The department said: "According to data on the morning of Friday, in 31 districts of the region there are 31 forest fires on a total area of ??2 thousand hectares, 3 more forest fires are located on 1,7 thousand hectares. There are no threats to human settlements ". Friday afternoon in the Transbaikal extinguished 11 fires in an area of ??1.8 thousand hectares.

It is noted that the fire extinguishes 619 people, including 142 paratroopers, 142 units of equipment are involved. The ministry added: "A significant part of the fires has natural causes - thunderstorms, lightning. But most of the fires are due to careless handling of fire ".

The news agency draws attention to the fact that dry and hot weather, established in the region, increases the risk of forest fires. According to the weather forecasters, from June 24 to June 28 in Transbaikalia, heat is expected to reach 35 degrees and above.

In connection with this, from June 22 to 26, in the seven districts of the region, a fifth (high) fire hazard class is projected.

As previously reported, the forests began to burn in Transbaikalia at the end of March. During this time about 612 forest fires were registered in the region on a total area of ??about 100 thousand hectares. It is noted that this is much less than in 2016, when over the same period in the region the fire passed more than 267 thousand. Ha.
