On the air of the radio station "Sputnik in the Crimea" Minister of Economic Development of Crimea Andrey Melnikov said that Chinese investors were interested in the project of building a tunnel through the Kerch Strait.

Melnikov said: "There was an interest in the construction of the tunnel in parallel with the bridge, we will discuss whether it is so or not. Those technologies that Chinese entrepreneurs can offer, they say they can do it with fairly modest costs ".

The Minister also noted that Chinese companies are already involved in the construction of a new airport in Simferopol.

From Melnikov's words it follows that Chinese business representatives are interested in infrastructure, because these are large volumes of potential investments.

However, in December 2016 the head of the Public Chamber of the Crimea Grigory Ioffe said that, despite the positive public expertise, the construction of a transport tunnel through the Kerch Strait still looks like a dream.
