The press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov said that specific decisions on import substitution in Russian football at the meeting of the presidential Council for the development of physical culture and sports were not adopted.

A representative of the Kremlin about the assumption that the president supported 100% import substitution in football, said: "This is a misunderstanding".

The spokesman explained: "Indeed, it was a question of growing our own athletes - it's expensive and in time, and money, and coaching resources, and it is often much easier to solve the issue by buying ready grown legionnaires".

Peskov clarified:

"The President agreed that there is a problem, and it was a question of that it is necessary to work out this question flexibly, there were no specific decisions about it".

Recall that the topic was raised at the Council for Physical Education and Sports Governor of Krasnodar Territory Veniamin Kondratiev: "You can mess with them, but you can buy a legionnaire, including any large sports club. And then, of course, there is no possibility that our boys will grow into big stars, there is already no ". He proposed to spend 100% import substitution in Russian football.
