The secretary of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation Maya Grishina told reporters on Wednesday, May 24 that the election campaign for the presidential elections in Russia should officially begin in the period from December 7 to December 17, Izvestia informs..
Grishina also recalled that the State Duma adopted in the third reading amendments to the legislation that regulate the issue of appointing presidential elections. Now the law should be approved by the Federation Council, after which the document will be sent to the president for signature.
She told reporters: "In case of adoption and entry into force of the law, this (the beginning of the election campaign) is the period from December 7 to December 17".
It is noted that according to the amendments, the voting date can be set for a week later, if the election day falls on a holiday or on a Sunday.
