Izvestia reports that an explosion at a checkpoint in the southern suburb of Damascus suicide bomber. A source in the security service of Syria specified that there is no data on the victims yet.

"RIA Novosti" reported earlier, with reference to eyewitnesses of the terrorist attack, about a powerful explosion at the entrance to the Shiite quarter of Damascus.

The agency cites the words of the source: "The cause of the explosion was a suicide bomber in a mined car. He blew himself up at the checkpoint at the entrance to Seyyid-Zeynab. While it is difficult to say anything about the victims, but, most likely, there are both the dead and the wounded ".

It is also noted that the military and security personnel were able to detain the second car with a suicide bomber who managed to drive through the checkpoint inside the quarter.
