CNN Turk reports that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was elected chairman of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) at an extraordinary congress.

"Newspaper. Ru "notes that his candidacy was supported by 1414 delegates.

As is known, Erdogan decided to return to the JDP after approving the amendments to the constitution following the results of the referendum, within which a transition to the presidential system of government took place. It is specified that earlier in Turkey it was impossible to remain a member of a political party when electing to the post of president of the country.

Earlier, Erdogan, speaking at an extraordinary congress of the ruling Justice and Development Party, said that Ankara would not tolerate the two-faced policy of the European Union.
