RIA Novosti reports with reference to the clergyman of the UOC-MP MP Protopriest Nikolai Danilevich that the Ukrainian ambassador to the Vatican was summoned to the Pope in connection with the draft law on the status of religious organizations that are directed against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP).

Danilevich wrote on his Facebook page: "For the attention of people's deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The Vatican is concerned about the possibility of adopting 4128 and 4511 (laws against the UOC-MP). We summoned our Ukrainian ambassador at the Vatican ".

As previously reported, yesterday, May 18, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine planned to consider two draft laws at once, which give representatives of the government the right to control the church.

It is noted that, if adopted, parliamentarians will be able to oblige the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate to conclude agreements with state bodies and coordinate the appointments of the heads of the organization. Moreover, officials will have the opportunity to declare the church outlawed.
